Christmas Greeting Cards

Yep, it’s that time again…time to send Christmas greeting cards to the people who positively affected your life during the year. I’ve spoken with lots of folks who say, “I’ve gotta get my Christmas cards sent.” But many of them are like me. They’ve stopped sending Christmas greeting cards over the years because their schedules have gotten too busy to put those hand-written, personalized notes inside the cards. I know that’s why I stopped sending them a few years back. I loved being able to write a note to each person I sent a card to. For me, that was the whole point of sending them in the first place…to get a chance to say “Hey” to the folks that I thought about a lot throughout the year but hadn’t taken the time to pick up the phone to call them and let them know!

Since we hadn’t been sending them the past few years, I go through this period of feeling guilty about not keeping in touch. What do we do, send “Merry After-Christmas” cards? (Actually, they did go out after Christmas last year and I didn’t have one person call to complain, so I suppose that does leave another possibility open for those of you who are procrastinators like my son and I!) I don’t know whether that works for Hanukah cards or not…maybe some of our Hanukah card-sending folks will write us and let us know.

Here’s an idea. Maybe, rather than Christmas greeting cards, we can send out Happy New Year cards! You figure, at least where we grew up in Illinois, along with the entire northern part of the United States, January is a great time to get a card, Christmas greeting card or otherwise. Once the holiday is over and everyone takes their Christmas lights down, it’s SO depressing! I mean face it…what’s left once there’s no Christmas lights lit up or Christmas cards coming in the mail? Cold weather, snow, slush, icy streets, salt trucks, cloudy, gloomy weather….icky stuff all around! So how cool would it be to get a bright and cheery, “I’m thinking about you and hope you and your family have a fantastic new year!” kind of card? I say we should do it!

So, whether you’re sending out Christmas greeting cards, Hanukah cards, Happy Holiday cards, or Happy New Year cards, how do you find the time to get so many sent and still keep it personal? Well, we use Greeting Cards For A Cure™ in conjunction with SendOutCards™.

It allows us to mail Christmas greeting cards that include personal photos, personal notes in our own handwriting, checks, and gift cards to everyone we want to send a Christmas greeting card (or New Year’s card) to. We just uploaded our contacts into the system, selected the card, added our note and photos, and hit send. Over 100 cards went out in the mail for less than $1.50 each, including the postage, and we were able to do it in less than 5 minutes!

Of course, now that our contacts are loaded, we get reminders about their birthdays and anniversaries as well so we no longer “forget” to send cards to the people we care about. We also use it to send out thank you cards, announcements, and such too.

For our business, we use it to send notes to anyone we work with that does an outstanding job for us, just to let them know that they’re appreciated. I must say though, it becomes incredibly fast and easy for Christmas greeting cards. When you’re sending out more than a handful of Christmas cards at a time, it can be really time-consuming when you want to keep it personal.

Whether for this Christmas card sending season or next, it’s a tool that you can use to keep your friends and loved one knowing that they’re thought about often throughout the year. Why wait until something happens to them before you send a card…they would rather receive it personally…it just will never have the same meaning when it gets sent to their family as a condolence card…tell people NOW that you appreciate them.
